JOB SUMMARY: The Monarch School Speech/Language
PathologistAssistive Technology Specialist is part of an
interdisciplinary team of professionals who provide a highest
caliber of instruction in individual and/or small class settings.
This includes the assessment of individual speech needs,
recommendations for augmentative and alternative
communication/assistive technology, and providing appropriate
training to staff, families, and districts. The Monarch School
Speech/Language PathologistAssistive Technology Specialist is
supervised Director of the Speech Language Pathology
Department.ESSENTIAL DUTIES:Assess student augmentative and
alternative communication/assistive technology needs school
wide.Consult with other Speech Pathologists and the
interdisciplinary team on augmentative and augmentative
communication needs and options.Responsible for the organization
and maintenance of the augmentative/assistive technology equipment
and library.Contribute to and support school wide trainings in the
area of augmentative and alternative communication and assistive
technology with team members.Administer diagnostic assessments
(formal and informal evaluations including the analysis of language
samples) to autistic children.Consult and meet with the Director of
the Speech Language Pathology Director on a scheduled basis.Provide
training to team regarding communication levels/needs of individual
students.Communicate with school districts and funding sources for
maintenance, management, and coordination of augmentative and
alternative communication needs.Maintain a caseload as determined
by the Speech/Language Supervisor and provide therapy services on a
one to one and small group basis.As necessary, utilize Safety Care
procedures, including at a minimum, make use of the necessary
Two-Person Stability Hold.Maintain and monitor the coordination of
targeted speech and language goals through collaboration with the
interdisciplinary team.Provide training to individuals and families
on how to use assistive technology, troubleshoot issues, and
advocate for appropriate services.Contribute to the development and
maintenance of the clinical record through the timely completion of
assigned documentation in accordance with applicable licensing and
accreditation regulations and standards.OTHER DUTIES:Attend
scheduled staff meetings, supervision, and on-going training.All
required trainings, certifications and licensure must be kept
current in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation
regulations and standards.Respect the privacy of clients and hold
in confidence all information obtained during the clients
treatment. All client-related documents should be handled in
accordance with Agency guidelines on confidential material.Maintain
high standards of ethical and professional conduct and adhere to
Agency policies and procedures.Other duties as assigned by
management.QUALIFICATIONS:Education: Minimum Masters Degree
required.Licensure: Valid Ohio Speech/Language Pathologist license
required. Current appropriate Ohio Department of Education license
for area of specialty.Skills/Competencies:Pass Safety Care Core
Curriculum by passing the written exam, attending the full duration
of training, participating and passing the required role plays, and
demonstrating the full competencies up to and including the
Two-Person Stability Hold required.Core Expertise: Possess skill,

role; keeps knowledge up to date.Independent Judgment: Demonstrate

are clients or not.Technical Proficiency: Demonstrate competence in
utilizing Agency computer systems and software as required to
perform essential job functions.Experience: Combination of
education, training and/or experience in working with autistic
children.Experience in the assessment and treatment of individuals
who use and qualify for assistive technology.Experience in the
documentation of AAC funding.Experience in evidence-based practices
to evaluate functional outcomes of AAC.Experience in the
coordination and teaching of AAC systems in a team
environment.Well-versed and demonstrated knowledge of current
AAC/AT devices, including strengths and limitations of difference
