Job Description Job Description About the Role: The Speech
Therapy - PRN position is designed to provide flexible, on-demand
speech-language pathology services within a healthcare setting. The
primary goal is to assess, diagnose, and treat patients with
speech, language, voice, and swallowing disorders to improve their
communication abilities and overall quality of life. This role
requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to develop
individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's unique
needs. The position demands adaptability to varying patient
populations and clinical environments, ensuring continuity of care
during peak times or staff absences. Ultimately, the role
contributes to enhancing patient outcomes through evidence-based
therapeutic interventions and compassionate care. Minimum
Qualifications: Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from
an accredited program. Valid state license or certification to
practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist. Current Certificate of
Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing
Association (ASHA) or equivalent. AHA CPR Basic Life Support (BLS)
certification. Demonstrated experience in clinical speech therapy,
including assessment and treatment of speech and swallowing
disorders. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in acute
care, rehabilitation, or skilled nursing facility settings.
Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
Additional certifications related to dysphagia management or
augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). Proven ability to
work independently in a PRN or flexible scheduling environment.
Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive speech and language
evaluations to identify communication and swallowing disorders.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on
patient assessments and clinical best practices. Provide direct
therapy services to patients across diverse age groups and medical
conditions in various healthcare settings. Document patient
progress accurately and maintain compliance with regulatory and
organizational standards. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and
other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and
optimize treatment outcomes. Educate patients and their families
about communication strategies and therapeutic exercises to support
recovery. Maintain professional knowledge by participating in
continuing education and staying current with advances in
speech-language pathology. Skills: The required skills enable the
therapist to perform thorough patient evaluations and deliver
effective, evidence-based treatment plans tailored to individual
needs. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential
for collaborating with healthcare teams and educating patients and
families. Clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills are used
daily to adapt therapy approaches based on patient progress and
changing conditions. Familiarity with documentation standards and
EMR systems ensures accurate record-keeping and compliance with
healthcare regulations. Preferred skills, such as experience with
specialized populations or advanced certifications, enhance the
therapist’s ability to address complex cases and provide
comprehensive care in diverse clinical settings.
