(MRI) technologist is exciting for those who are passionate about
health care, patient comfort and saving lives. As a technologist,
you are asked to operate MRI scanners and to ensure that the
procedure produces quality images and information for the health
care professional to make an accurate diagnosis. You have the
chance to work and interact directly with patients as you ensure
that they are comfortable and calm. Utilize your medical knowledge
by interviewing patients, explaining the procedure and placing the
patient in the appropriate spot on the table. Technologists are
also organized, detail-oriented people who are familiar with the
anatomical area that is being scanned and the patient's history.
Develop relationships with patients as you help diagnose their
condition as an MRI technologist. /n /n A Brief Overview /n
Performs MRI scans at the direction of physician protocol. Provides
compassionate age-specific care to patients from neonates through
geriatrics. /n What You Will Do /n /n - Displays commitment to the
mission of the hospital and its values /n - Provides age-specific
care to patients from neonates through geriatrics. /n - Performs
MRI scans as directed by radiologist /n - Patient care during visit
to MRI /n - Knowledge of MRI equipment and safety in MRI
environment. /n - Assures a safe and clean environment /n -
Maintains knowledge of technical skills /n - Takes responsibility
for self-development and supports a learning environment /n -
Demonstrates successful technical/patient skills by efficiently
implementing special procedure technology in the MR area /n - Uses
administrative skills to contribute to the successful operation of
the department /n - Collaborates effectively and in a timely manner
with co-workers and clinical staff /n - Clear knowledge of modality
specific equipment, computers, PACS, EMR and RIS. /n /n Additional
Responsibilities /n /n - Uses a variety of equipment specific to
the area, including MR scanners, power injectors, andvarious
computers.Must demonstrate effective organizational, written and
oral communication skills. Must demonstrate excellent customer
service skills. Ability to perform procedures specific to area
.Answers phones and arranges schedule for in-patient request.
Initiates and maintains positive relationships with
patients/customers and coworkers /n - Performs other duties as
assigned. /n - Complies with all policies and standards. /n - For
specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation
provided by the department during orientation. /n - Must abide by
all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health
Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of
Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address
appropriate use of PHI in the workplace. /n Qualifications
Education - Associate's Degree Completion of an accredited 2 year
program in a school of Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology
(Required) or - Other Accredited Program: Completion of an
accredited program in a school of Sonography with current ARDMS
certificate (Required) and - High School Equivalent / GED
(Required) Work Experience - MR scanning experience. (Preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities - Knowledge of sterile and surgical
procedures. (Required proficiency) - Knowledge of MRI equipment and
safety in MRI environment. (Required proficiency) - Knowledge of
radiology information system. (Required proficiency) - Basic
knowledge of oxygen tanks, suction machine and emergency equipment.
(Required proficiency) Licenses and Certifications - Any of the
following: Registered Technologist MRI (ARRT-MR) or Registered
Radiologic Technologist (RT:R) or Certified Nuclear Medicine
Technologist (CNMT) or Registered Technologist Radiation Therapy
(ARRT-T) or ARDMS - American Registry of Diagnostic Medical
Sonography (Required Upon Hire) and - Registered Technologist MRI
(ARRT-MR) (Required within 1 Year) or - ARMRIT - American Registry
of MRI Technologists (Required Upon Hire) - Basic Life Support
(BLS) (Required Upon Hire) Physical Demands - Standing Frequently -
