Care Unit (TCU) Total Beds: 32 EMR System: Meditech Licensed Under:
Long-Term Care (LTC) regulations Type of Unit: Step-down unit from
acute/post-op care Post-acute care Focused on patients not yet
ready for discharge home or to a nursing home Patients must have a
skilled need Typical stay: ~14 days Common Diagnoses: Post-ortho
surgeries (mostly hip/knee replacements) Non-acute and non-critical
patients Staffing & Ratios Charge Nurse: 1 per shift (may vary by
census) Responsible for all patients on the unit Float RN available
for admissions, discharges, IVs, etc. Nurse Aides (CNA): 1st & 2nd
shift: 2–3 aides (census dependent) 3rd shift: 1–2 aides
Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: Example: At census of 18, 2 nurses cover 9
patients each At higher census (20–32): 3 nurses on day/evening
shifts 2 nurses on night shift Shift Info Hours: 2230–0700 (Night
