Job Title: LISW / LPC / LSW – Correctional Mental Health
Professional Location: Varying Locations Job Type: Full-Time
typically 1st shift Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated and
compassionate Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) , Licensed
Professional Counselor (LPC) , or Licensed Social Worker (LSW) to
join our behavioral health team in a correctional facility. This is
a unique opportunity to provide vital mental health services to an
underserved population, contributing to their rehabilitation and
well-being in a secure environment. Key Responsibilities: Provide
individual and group counseling sessions to address mental health
needs, behavioral challenges, and emotional well-being. Conduct
comprehensive assessments to develop, implement, and evaluate
individualized treatment plans. Collaborate with multidisciplinary
teams, including medical staff, correctional officers, and
administrators, to coordinate patient care. Respond to mental
health crises and provide interventions to stabilize patients.
Maintain accurate and confidential records in compliance with
facility policies and applicable regulations. Educate staff and
inmates on mental health topics, including stress management,
coping skills, and self-care techniques. Participate in discharge
planning to ensure continuity of care upon release. Adhere to all
security and safety protocols within the correctional environment.
Qualifications: Current and valid LISW , LPC , or LSW license in
Ohio Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a
related field. Experience in mental health counseling (experience
in corrections, substance abuse, or trauma-informed care is
preferred). Strong understanding of evidence-based practices and
therapeutic approaches. Excellent communication, problem-solving,
and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a
structured and secure environment. CPR certification (preferred).
